Poems often know more than we do, arriving through image, metaphor, memory, and surprise. In this generative workshop, Timothy Green will explore how poetry can become a tool for listening to the subconscious, revealing hidden fears, desires, griefs, joys, and turning points before the conscious mind has fully named them. Drawing from his new collection, Poems for Katie, Green will discuss how ordinary prompts became the record of a life changing. Participants will read brief examples and begin new poems through guided exercises focused on discovery, honesty, and following the strange detail.
