JAMES EVERT JONES

A double-recipient President’s Volunteer Service Awards, James Evert Jones is Executive Director of Expressions, L.A., having curated and hosted spoken word events for over 30 years throughout the Los Angeles area.  James hosts the monthly international reading: Poetry Without Borders also in collaboration with the Los Angeles Public Libraries.  A prolific poet, James has been featured in Redshift, Spectrum, A Decade of Sundays, Blue and the Blues, Voices from Leimert Park Redux, and Onyx: Spoken Word, among others.  His work includes a gamut of love poems from innocent to weary (all with a boyish optimistic fervor), turns a critical eye toward the American political landscape, and focuses a cinematic lens to the multi-faceted perspectives of the adventures that comprise humanity. 

 LISBETH COIMAN

Lisbeth Coiman is a poet and educator from Venezuela. She earned her BA in Languages at Universidad Metropolitana, Caracas, and her Masters in Adult Ed at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Her debut book, I Asked the Blue Heron: A Memoir (2017) explores the intersection between immigration and mental health. Her poetry collection, Uprising / Alzamiento (Finishing Line Press) has just been released. Coiman lives in Los Angeles, CA.  For more, visit www.lisbethcoiman.com.
